High school students: Become a Student School Board Representative

High school students: Become a Student School Board Representative

Looking for an exciting opportunity to make a difference during your senior year? Apply to become a 2021-2022 Student School Board Representative (SSBR)!

As an SSBR, you’ll work with Supt. Cory McIntyre and the ISD 279 School Board to influence the leadership and direction of Osseo Area Schools by:

  • Preparing a summary of school updates to be delivered at each meeting; and
  • Answering questions on issues for which the board seeks student input.

What else should I know about the SSBR role?

If you’re a high school senior this year and can attend once-a-month board meetings (not including work sessions) from October 2021 through May 2022, you may be a great fit for this role! We hope to have one Student School Board Representative from each of our five high schools: 279Online, Maple Grove Senior High, Osseo Area Learning Center, Osseo Senior High, and Park Center Senior High.

The SSBRs will sit with the board during the meeting but may leave after providing school updates, allowing flexibility for you to participate in other activities or work.

I’m interested! How do I apply?

Either scan the QR code to apply via a Google Form, or submit a short video to Amy Janecek at JanecekA@district279.org (no longer than 2 minutes) to introduce yourself and explain why you are interested in this role.

Deadline to apply is Wednesday, Sept. 22, 2021.
