2023-24 Triple A award winners announced

Osseo Area Schools’ three traditional senior high schools recently released the names of their 2023-24 Triple A (Academics, Arts, and Athletics) Award winners. This award, sponsored by the Minnesota State High School League (MSHSL), honors two seniors at each school throughout the state who have a 3.0 or higher-grade point average and who participate in League-sponsored athletic and fine arts activities.

Maple Grove Senior High (MGSH)

Ella Walz and Ethan Smith are MGSH’s Triple A Award Winners. 

Walz has a 4.028 GPA and has participated in tennis, football, robotics, choir and volunteered in Junior Rotary at MGSH. She also volunteers at the Eastman Nature Center. 

Smith has a 4.096 GPA and has participated in soccer, DECA, Stocks & Investing club, and band at MGSH.   He also volunteers as a church youth group leader in his spare time.

Osseo Senior High (OSH)

The OSH Triple A Award winners are Abegayle Ahlquist and Michael James. 

Ahlquist is a six year varsity diver on the swim and dive team, a five year varsity athlete on the gymnastics team and a two time state participant with Osseo rugby. She is the Secretary of National Honor Society as well as a section leader in both of the top orchestra groups at OSH. 

James is a decorated member of the OSH band, participating in multiple groups including marching band, jazz ensemble and pep band, as well as All-State band. He is also a six year athlete and captain of the tennis team and was named the ‘Mr. Oriole’ recipient for his contributions to the boys soccer team.

Park Center Senior High (PCSH)

Sophia Jermstad and Nigel Dyalsingh received Park Center’s 2023-24 Triple A honors. 

Dyalsingh is part of the school’s swimming and tennis teams. He is also a member of the tech crew for drama and participates in National Honor Society, robotics, Link Crew, band, jazz band, pep band and marching band. Dyalsingh has been a district student his entire K-12 career, spending time at Woodland, Weaver Lake: A Science, Math & Technology School, and Brooklyn Middle STEAM School in addition to PCSH.

Jermstad is a member of the school’s swimming and lacrosse teams. She also participates in National Honor Society, orchestra and is part of the winter robotics team as a business captain. Jermstad attended Osseo Area Schools as an elementary school student in addition to her time at PCSH, and she plans to attend Indiana Tech for college this fall, where she will also play lacrosse.
