279Online students at the high school level receive the same quality of academic programming as their peers who attend school in person. The high school programming focuses on core subject areas and graduation requirements. Our 279Online staff design and facilitate learning experiences beyond what is available in the brick and mortar, such as engaging with the community to help solve real-world concerns that are affecting our scholars.
Students and teachers engage in learning through the use of Schoology, a learning management system. Learning activities are aligned to the academic standards for each subject area. Learning occurs through a blend of daily live virtual sessions, pre-recorded video tutorials, and independent learning activities.

The 279Online high school experience offers opportunities for students to explore, grow and prepare for entering the workplace or college. Students have options to choose core subjects and a wide range of electives. While not all elective classes that are offered in a traditional environment can be offered through 279Online, some elective classes are modified in order to create virtual learning opportunities.
